Bryan Yu

Strength & Conditioning Coach

Bryan completed his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Alberta. He is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Biomechanics at the University of Calgary under the supervision of Dr. Walter Herzog. His research aims to examine the operational muscle length in speed skaters during the turn-cable exercise. 

He joined the Canadian Sport Institute Alberta team in 2014 where he worked with multiple Canadian national and development teams. Bryan also worked as the lead performance coach with the Chinese national speed skating team from 2019 to 2020. Bryan currently works as the lead strength coach for the Men’s National Para Hockey Team.  

Bryan’s goal in coaching is to provide a science-driven practice that integrates health and athletic performance. Outside of work, he enjoys rock climbing, hiking, and reading.
